The feast of St. Pedro Poveda, on July 28, was celebrated in places where the Teresian Association is present. In the city of Makati, a celebration was held with diocesan priests and seminarians.
What better way to celebrate the feastday of Pedro Poveda than to spend a few hours with diocesan priests and seminarians who have been inspired by the life and charism of our dear founder. On July 27, 2017, as an offshoot of the premiere showing of the movie POVEDA, the Josefa Segovia Grouping of Zone A organized a talk cum interaction with the priest-formators and seminarians of San Carlos Seminary (SCS) in Makati City. The talk on "Pedro Poveda, the priest" was given by Mary Ann Escucha. It was then followed by the Holy Eucharist concelebrated by five priests namely: Fr. Rico Ayo, Fr. Celsi Pascual, Fr. Sid Maranay, Fr. Joey Martin and Fr. Kristoffer Habal, the main celebrant.
In his homily, Fr. Habal elaborated on three salient points in Fr. Poveda's life: his christ-centeredness, his evangelizing zeal, and his great faith in women.
He ended his homily praying for the Teresian Association to be faithful to St. Pedro Poveda's vision of forming Christian evangelizers, and to be true to his charism of being salt and light of the world. Before giving the final blessing, Fr. Joey Martin, Rector of SCS, announced that an interactive dinner with the Teresianas would take place shortly after the mass.
Indeed sharing was the order of the day: sharing on the life and priesthood of Pedro Poveda, sharing at the eucharistic table and sharing of food and life at the dinner table. What a simple yet meaningful way to celebrate the 81st anniversary of St. Pedro Poveda's martyrdom!
