SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.
The film POVEDA was screened again in Dominican Republic. It was during Catholic Book Fair, held every two years and organized by Cursillo Movement. The screening took place on March 25 in the auditorium of Casa San Pablo. The film was the only one chosen to be presented at this event, which is aimed at disseminating publications by Catholic publishers and authors.
The screening had the support of the Teresian Association and of Narcea Publishers, which donated books about Saint Pedro Poveda. The books were distributed among the over 300 people that attended.
During the informal dialogue at the end of the projection, the social commitment and faith of Saint Pedro Poveda were emphasized. The coherence of his life and his transparency were perceived very positively by the public. Some expressed the need of more people like him. Also the person of Josefa Segovia and the first women of the Teresian Academies were much appreciated.
The film offers an approach that is in tune with the present moment of this country, such as the interest in new educational methods and a person-centered education.
Margarita Matos, Director of the Teresian Association in Dominican Republic, briefly explained the Association's presence in the country.
