An ACIT member of the Teresian Association, we will always remember her as a very important person in the constitution of this Association and in the development of the Teresian Association in Brazil. She inspired new vocations and always had a loving and faithful presence.

Ana María with her husbandAna María with her husbandHer books and articles show this dimension, as is evident in The disciples of Jesus (Narcea, Madrid 1994). In an interview on Feminism and Liberation, she stated: "At the beginning of Christianity, women played a leading role in the ministry of Jesus and in the preaching of the Good News." She concluded by saying: "The important thing is to have eyes and ears open to discover, through the paths of life, how to fulfill our mission, in this moment full of challenges, but also the possibilities that life gives us."

Shee published numerous articles in specialized theological journals, wrote books, taught courses, participated in congresses and symposiums and gave lectures in Brazil and in many other countries.

She graduated in Philosophy from the Catholic University of Petrópolis in 1963. She was one of the first women to study theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). She joined the Department of Theology as a student, graduated in 1981 and became a Professor in 1982. She completed her master's and doctorate in Theology at PUC-Río. She continued her Postgraduate work at the "Center d'études sur l'actuel et le quotidien, CEAQ, in Sociology", of the University of Paris Descartes, U.E.R. of Social Sciences (2009).

Throughout her teaching years, she was also a coordinator of Graduate, Postgraduate and Distance Theology. She also taught Ecclesiology, Christology, Pneumatology, the Sacrament of Marriage and Theology of the Laity. In 2013, after many years of teaching, she continued as Professor Emeritus of PUC-Río.

In her words, theology courses have the mission of the humanization through faith. She acted as adviser in commissions of the CNBB, in the CELAM, in the CRB and in the CNLB.

Ana María Tepedino knew how to do theology by opening spaces for the construction of a new and just world, according to the heart of God; she assumed theological doing as a proposal of life; she left a mark and a path.
