The educational community of Pedro Poveda school in Jaen, which was the host, spent several months preparing for the event since it is challenging to receive so many people, creating an agenda of activities and ensure that everything goes as planned. There was great collaboration from many families and teachers. Also, the City Council supported them so that they would to obtain the necessary permits and security for a march through the city in the evening of February 8, before the opening. They had tourist guides for cultural visits to significant points of the city on February 9th.
On Sunday, February 10th, the participants spent the day in La Salabroja, playing volleyball, basketball, and soccer, among other games. The activities lasted all day and included sharing hot chocolate and a “gymkana” with the collaboration of families from Pedro Poveda School. The trainers from the different schools were recognized at different moments.
The event ended with a dinner. The entire event emphasized Poveda’s values, such as humility, respect, sharing, solidarity, and team work. The Olympic flag was handed over to Ikasbide School, Bilbao, which will be responsible EDIT 2019.
Congratulations to Pedro Poveda School of Jaen, the organizing team, and the participants for the good climate and willingness to cooperate, meet and interact with young people from other places!
