Maite Uribe is reelected President of the Teresian Association

LOS NEGRALES, Madrid, Spain.
Maite Uribe Bilbao has been re-elected President of the Teresian Association (TA) for the period 2018-2024, at the XVIII General Assembly, August 1-15, in Los Negrales (Madrid).  The theme of the Assembly is about faith and being sent to live in hope.

The election session was held in the morning of August 13. The symbols used for such event were placed on the presiding table. Cardinal Carlos Osoro and the secretary of the XVIII General Assembly, Manoly Rey, presided the ceremony.

Maite Uribe Bilbao is the sixth Prsident of the Teresian Association. She was born in San Salvador, Republic of El Salvador, on April 20, 1951, of Spanish parents and has Spanish nationality. She holds a medical degree from the University of Valencia and a clinical specialist degree in psychotherapy, from the Pontifical Univeristy of Comillas, Madrid.

When accepting the position for the new period 2018 – 2024, Maite Uribe expressed her availability to the Teresian Association and to each person of the same, as well as her full trust in everyone. She asked the TA members to live this time as "a new Pentecost that allows us to go out and announce to the whole world the gift of the Good News of Jesus and the gift of the charism of the Teresian Association."

Cardinal Osoro highlighted the relevance of the charism inspired by Saint Pedro Poveda for the world today. It is about contributing to live the "true humanism" expressed by St. Pedro Poveda.  Today this means helping others to learn to be, to become citizens that are bearers of hope and communion in our plural and multicultural world.

The Teresian Association is an international lay association of the Catholic Church, founded by Saint Pedro Poveda in 1911, in Covadonga, Asturias (Spain). Lay men and women form various associations committed to evangelization, human advancement, and social transformation, through education and culture, in public and private entities.
