This celebration is observed since 1964 on the anniversary of the death of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated in 1948. UNESCO recognized it in 1993. The Teresian Association in Argentina has assumed the management of a new schoolin 2016, Fahy Institute, in the Municipality of Moreno located in the western area of the so-called "Greater Buenos Aires." It is an agricultural technical school with three levels of education through secondary education, founded by the Association of Ladies of Saint Joseph (Irish community) in the late nineteenth century.

Authorities and alumni of Veritas Institute in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, recognized the merits, commitment, and dedication to teaching of Encarnación Molina, a retired teacher and member of the Teresian Association who worked at the Institute and returned to this country after 35 years.
