The memory of the presence and work of Father Poveda in Guadix, even after more than a century, is still very significant. Going through the places that he used to travel in the city and especially in the neighborhood of Las Cuevas, is an inspiring experience that helps one understand the educational and social roots that Father Poveda transmitted to the Teresian Work since its foundation.

Josefa Segovia Chair at CITeS - University of Mysticism, Ávila, Spain, started its activity in Novermber, 2010. The creation of Josefa Segovia Chair: Lay Mysticism and Spirituality coincides in time with the preparation of the Teresian Association for the celebration of its first centenary (1911-2011). The Chair seeks to generate and sustain networks of lay people and groups that are willing to enter the "inner castle" and be salt in the pluralistic and secularized societies in which we live.

Proper treatment against abuse

 manoposa.001

The Teresian Association has endowed itself with a "Commission for proper treatment and action against abuses", to develop its own regulations and the necessary protection protocols for minors and other vulnerable persons.n addition to recognising the social demand It responds to the urgent call that Pope Francis has made to the whole Church in order to put an end to the situations and numerous cases that have recently been denounced, in which priests, religious and other Church members have been responsible for the abuses. Recently, the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, urged all international associations, such as the TA, to develop this regulation.

"The men and women that Poveda has in mind walk on the asphalt, earn their bread, complain about things, educate their children or the children of others, they make mistakes, they learn, they hit the mark, they go wrong, they quarrel with their family and they would give their lives for it, they lend a hand, they pray, they work, they have fun, they live with others. They believe in God, they think that people are their brothers and sisters, that the world is wonderful, but that it is worth fighting to make it better for all. In a word, the strong friends of God Pedro Poveda has in mind are courageous ... "2

The Teresian Association is committed to a humanizing task which has its roots in the Incarnation of Jesus of Nazareth in history. This is a commitment to the human being and his dignity as the key for any meaningful change. We are women and men who live our faith in daily life, aware of the gift we receive at baptism. We nourish it with prayer, the Eucharist, and fraternal and family communion. This is why we try to ensure that all our actions are inspired by the values and demands of the Gospel.
