After the work of a commission with representatives from different decades and the current possibilities of the networks, more than 200 people attended, plus some of the current students who were moved by the testimony of an experience that leaves a deep impression throughout the whole life.
The "Resi" as we call it, has been functioning since 1943, five years after the arrival of the TA to the country. It is known and interacts in the city because of the graffiti of Victoria that defies the times: "Courage companions, life is stronger!"
From those initial years, it accumulates a long tradition of experience: sustaining fellowship, challenged by the tone of each era. "Something more than dwelling" is not just an inspiring motto, it is the active principle of a way of living that favors a curious attitude towards projects, participation in joint spaces of agreements and groups of faith growth, together with the Franciscans with whom we share the pastoral task.
Meeting again with joy and emotion
This group re-encounter after all these years was for the Association a celebration of the results that we intended and sometimes we see: mature persons, active professionals who contribute to society, a celebration of faith in a family atmosphere. We felt the accumulated work of so many years, the confirmation of the value of this project and the gratitude to the Lord for allowing us to be witnesses of his love.
We began with the celebration of the Eucharist in the Mary Help of Christians Parish presided by Monsignor Luis Eduardo González and concelebrated by several priests who have been accompanying us. The homily, by Fr. Carlos Bernal, encouraged us to think of ourselves as part of a large tapestry with its knots and hidden setbacks that are weaving diversity and design over time. The songs added fervor and enthusiasm and the loving greetings full of affection marked the tone of this celebration filled with warm personal re-encounters.
Living our charism today
A party had been planned to be held outside in the garden, but an unexpected torrential storm forced us to go inside, finding ourselves in familiar corners of this home to which we were returning with grateful memories and accumulated appreciation. "The secret is for them to feel at home" Poveda would say. Each generation, according to the decade, had their word of remembrance, recognition and affection, for those Teresians who worked here.
"The Lord has been great with us". He has blessed each stage in a way that is always new and always generating life. We will continue along the path of the times with living hope and the conviction that the student residences are not just one of the many activities that the TA has. They are part of the original inspiration of the charisma of Pedro Poveda and are a promising way to live it today as well.
